CAN YOU SWIM IN BUCKMUNDI SHIRTS?
Our shirts are designed mostly for above water, however yes you can swim in them. Be aware that swimming in chlorine may fade inks and sun protection can be slightly reduced while the fabric is wet. Remember to always slip slop slap and cover any exposed skin as best you can when outdoors.
SUN PROTECTION RATING
Built for long days in the harsh Australian sun, our shirts are designed with tightly woven, high quality fabric that that is rated at UPF 50+ helping to shield from harmful UV exposure. Lightweight, breathable and made for the outdoors they're built with sun protection in mind- without compromising comfort or style.
ARE BUCKMUNDI SHIRTS HOT?
No, Buckmundi shirts are not hot! While any long sleeve shirt will feel warmer than a singlet, our shirts are designed to keep you cool. Many of our customers used to avoid "fishing shirts" because they found them too hot, but once they tried a Buckmundi, they were surprised by how breathable and comfortable the fabric is.

Our shirts are made from a quality 100% moisture-wicking microfibre mesh. While they are polyester, it’s the quality and weave of the fabric that makes the difference. This technology draws moisture away from your skin and lets air flow through, creating a cooling effect rather than trapping heat. It is also important to note to get maximum breathability they are not designed to be worn tight, always leave a little room to breathe and let it do it's job.
We’ve tested them in extreme conditions—like 40+ degree heat of the Kimberley and humidity of Cape York—against other fishing and cotton work shirts. Buckmundi shirts breathe better, keeping you cooler and more comfortable.

THE AUSSIE MADE LOGO?
Buckmundi is 100% owned, operated, designed and made in Australia and our manufacturer holds the logo. At this stage in our small business, it is another outlay; however is definitely something we will be considering in the future.
IS OUR FABRIC MADE IN AUSTRALIA?
We love this question as it brings the attention to why we push for Australian made and where Australian manufacturing can still grow.
Australia does not manufacture ultra light microfibre mesh, therefore it has to be sourced from overseas where they specialise in the best quality. We have contacted places all over the country, but as yet it's not possible.
Having garments made here is the first step and like many Aussie's we are hoping in time it will be made in Australia also. Every step after a white roll of fabric is done right here in Australia. Designed by us, printed, cut and sewn in Australia.
ARE WE GOING TO MAKE CAPS?
We would love to have our own caps, however there is not a manufacturer in Australia that makes the actual cap, so until then we will have to hold out. There's an idea for an entrepreneur out there :).
DEER FOR THE BUCKMUNDI LOGO?
I sketched up our deer head logo back in 2019 to slap on the back of the caravan before we hit the road. Box reckons it’s all about the venison… I’m more here for the antlers — those fine, filigree details probably wraps me up in a nutshell. The stag also ties into our family crest, so it felt like a pretty fitting travel companion.
If you look closely, you’ll notice the design’s got a bit of a split personality — soft swirls on one side and clean, sharp edges on the other. That’s our nod to the masculine and feminine, the push and pull… or as we like to call it, the art of two very different people co-existing on the road without killing each other. You can probably guess who is who :).
HOW OFTEN DO WE GET MORE STOCK?
Be sure to sign up to our mailing list at the bottom of this page. We notify our community via email and on our socials when we are doing pre-orders for designs and new releases, so you don't miss out. When available these can be ordered via our pre-orders page.

We order based on demand and what we currently have in stock that can fit in the van. If there is a design that you want, and it isn't currently available in stock get in contact so we can let you know when we next expect to do a manufacturing run. ​
BUCKMUNDI SIZING
We use Australian sizing so there may be differences to ones purchased elsewhere. To get it right from the start we ask that you take the time and measure up against our size guide.
DO WE DO CUSTOM MADE?
Exciting news — as of 2026, we’re now offering custom orders. As more people get to know our design style and 100% Australian-made quality, the requests have been rolling in… so we thought, why not.
Minimum orders start at 50 units. They’re not the cheapest (that’s Aussie-made for you), but they’re built to last and made to stand out.
